InSite were commissioned to design Phase 1, Tilal Al Irfan of the Madinat Al Irfan urban development which was launched in 2021. It is considered Oman’s largest, most expansive and ambitious mixed-use development. Tilal Al Irfan, which is at the heart of Madinat Al Irfan development, which will become the sultanate’s largest integrated urban lifestyle destination and Muscat’s new central district. When completed, Tilal Al Irfan will be home to more than 40,000 residents and destined to create more than 20,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The design philosophy for Phase 1 is rooted in core values that are an amalgamation of
identity and aspirations. This being the idea of a new Downtown with a pulse by combining residential, office, retail, education and cultural functions within an amenity-laden public realm. It is envisioned as a “City of the Future” and will incorporate Smart City technologies while remaining rooted in the culture, heritage and architectural legacy of Oman in order to create “great moments for everyone, everyday”.
